What do you imagine happens when you submit your resume for a job opening? An optimist might hope the hiring manager takes their time to go through each resume fully, to determine if the applicant is qualified for the position. A pessimist might assume most resumes are tossed out at the first stage and the hiring managers are only truly considering a small number of applicants. Frustratingly, the pessimist has the better grasp on reality in this situation — a reality that is aided by something called an Applicant Tracking System.
